I never knew my father; I meet him when I was grown. I never missed my father you were the only Dad I known. I thank you my Grandfather for being there for me. You were My protector, and the guiding light I seen. I didn’t know then that you could not read, and could only write your name, but yet you taught me how to say my ABC’s I wonder how you did that? In the end you said I had helped my self and you just encourage me. You taught me how to walk like a Queen with my head held high, and to be careful. Not to trip pick my feet up and look around. I did not know what you meant, but I do know now, so I walk like a Queen with my head held high blending with the surrounding. You told me to beware of boys who say that they love me, and when I told you a boy Said just that, you told me to avoid him. I did not know then what you meant I did as I was told. And now, that same boy has ten kids all over town. I can go on with no problems about the lesson I have learned from you. And it was not until I was grown with kids of my own, that I realize you were giving me clues. You taught me how to listen, and to be no man judge, and that life can have funny turns in the road. So build bridges as I walk. Thank you my Grandfather, for being there for me. My protector, my father, the guiding light I need.
