Waking up at a time of day you barely knew existed.
Thinking if there was a point to getting up so early,
Then you obviously must have missed it.
Yawning loudly and whipping the drool from your face.
Moving about as sluggish as possible, for you were in no race.

You grabbed your backpack and headed for the door
Reminiscing about the previous day and wondering what today had in store
You did all your work, it was such a joy.
And every new teaching tool seemed like a new toy.

You soaked everything you could into your brain.
You wanted to know everything, you were so vain.
But one day everything got harder.
And they promised you it would make you smarter.

But you didn’t care it was just too much.
Schoolwork on top of homework this is just my luck.
    Elementary, Middle, and High?
What do they want from me, I swear I’m about to cry

What will happen to all the snacks, naps, and breaks?
This cant be right, it has to be a mistake.
You hold on to those memories and think how u will miss them.
But before you even notice, you too have been sucked into the system.

Little do we realize that those are the days to be cherished. If we only knew then what we know now. So true, and so well posed.

    um

you hit it right on the head

it's all a system you have to live in the system and not become processed

    and programmed to your core

    that's the key

you still have to live and be happy somehow
