Howard Zinn, the Boston University historian and political activist who was
an early opponent of US involvement in Vietnam and the author of the seminal
A People's History of the United States, died today at the age of 87 of a
heart attack in Santa Monica, California. He was in a swimming pool doing laps
and was spotted immediately by lifeguards but died instantly.

all things end.. that's the way to go out.. doing something that you enjoy.
87 years.. he was a fortunate man.. and he left something of himself
behind through his writings.. I wish someone would write "A People's
History of Nigeria".. or take on the whole continent.. It really is a wonderful
format for history. As opposed to the just recording the actions and
    reactions of the ruling classes..

An other good man has left us.

    A great example of caring.
