i wrote this a while ago, but I got lifted from it. I just thought id share it wit yall...

    GOD UNDERSTANDS

    God understands
    The preacher will speak
    And utter those words
    “God Understands”
and how he’s always there to take my hand.
But I can sit here and say
    That I never take it
Some see me as if I’m saved
Don’t they realize I fake it?
How many times have I sat in that pew and listened to The Word.
But letting it dwell in my heart has never occurred.
How many times have I told the Lord that in him I connect?
But when Sunday is over it’s him I forget.

I’m so numb to the feeling of tranquility
When the Holy Spirit comes to stay
And even in my weakest moments
    I still forget to pray

Yet I can open up the Bible, and read of how God understands
In every decision that I have to make
Through every hard step that I have to take
God will be there to understand.
Reaching out to take the hand
Of someone so caught up in the regular day
Who can’t stand when things don’t’ go her way
Who has too much pride to approach the alter and say
“I Love you Lord, and in my own right
I give my life to you and take this plight
To turn away from sin walk towards your light
Because then and only then will I have insight”

    But no

I sit here in this pew and listen to the Word
Not thinking of the peace that could have occurred
Not thinking of the fact that God understands
Not seeing that he’s there, tryna take my hand..

    Its sad but so true!
    Sometimes we all forget to
    praise his wonderful name and
thank him for all his love.

I agree with Purple, we do certainly forget, but as your poem says so well, despite it all, God understands. Such a truthful write.

Yeah, when i wrote this, i was battlin what road i was gonna be takin from that point, since I decided to get baptized. It's so easy to take the right road, but not being pushed off course is really hard sometimes. or at least our situations make it that way. But I was always reassured that God was always there to pick up the falling pieces...

Thank you Purplemoons, and watzinaname, for reading the poem
    keep the flow goin

    God is ...
    The sun you cant touch,
    The air you can't see,
    and
    The time you can't stop
    "ain't God good"?

peace & love.....I liked this alot - a battle that most at one time or another will go thru or have gone thru. I would dare say at least 75% of a church at any given time you have summed up in this insightful piece.

Yet, is it that 75% whose spirit is off, or is it that the preacher or leaders spirit is not in tune with the spirit of the creator to reach that 75%......

& I would also dare to say that the other 25% consists of the elders of the church who have been around long enough to know God for themselves without the aid of the preacher.

This piece started my day off right & I thank you for that!

    Whats up info-moetry

thanks for reading my poem. I'm glad you brought up this thing about how maybe preachers or leaders spirits are not in tune with the spirit to reach the other 75% Something for me to think about.

keep the flow goin, and welcome to destee.
