(before you begin to read family.... this is definitely not me... and no, don't worry it's not even denial.... I have written this about a friend who is withering away inside her licquor bottle)

    This room has become
    a private lounge
    a taphouse tavern
the smallest area of the house
that calls my name every night

    An everyday space that has
    become the
    mixed licquor lavoratory
a place to spill my guts
    while kneeling at the throne
because I can't keep it all down

This place allows me to toast
    a good day gone by
and to reflect on the more
    troubling hours --
    a ritualistic place that covets
    the libation of meditation
and in the midst of it sits
    a hub that holds
    effervescent bubbles
    that lost their aromatic
    'stress free' theraputic scent
to a bout it had with
    boundless bourbon

I found a fabricated form of
    relaxation while being surrounded
    by hot toddy water and
a cool white porcelain frame --
    an interim place to shut
out the worries of my world
just on the other side of the
    bathroom door...
from in here I can lock them
    all out

    Sitting in seclusion with my
    bottle of elixered delusions
    talking to
    sinful spirits named
    Jim Beam and Mickey Finn
... then the 5th of Gin
    somehow creeps in...

    By 9:30 p.m.
    I'm soaked in steam
    and have created a haven
    for this
    bathtime
    bootleg
    heaven
    that consumes me while soaking
    and passing time

    Somehow the sensible side of
    me knows that sobriety cannot
be found inside what used to
    be just a bathtub
    now turned
    distillery

    ... am I just a bathroom boozer
on a bender hiding my sickness
under the shelf and in between
    the towels where the disinfectant
    spray and cleanser
    reside???

    Recognizing there's a problem
when the cognac mists a fizz
    as the ethyl alcohol spills
    and hits the water with
    my raging curse words
    diving in after the drops
    to catch them before they
    can sink into my pores

    Yesterday is today
    and today is tomorrow
    the drain holds the secrets
    of my drunken soul's
    bath party
    but my
    mom still found the bottle
    of Gin in my bathtub....

    good...poet!

    a ritualistic place that covets
    the libation of meditation
    ...verbage...

i see this in a childhood friend
as i visit home this week in colorado...
i was amazed because never before
was her life consummed by the bottle of
    "fantasy"...
i hope she will stop living life in a
    drunken state....

    thanks for sharing this...

    SPEECHLESS...

    as i read this
    i could see your friend
    relaxing in
    a tub of steaming waters
    ...a half full gin bottle
    seated beside her

    I PRAY
    that her mother finds out
    someday
    before the innocence of life
    escapes her
and the clutches of the bottle
    sinks deep in her

    THANKS FOR SHARING
there are many who needs to read something like this.
her issue is with a bottle
their issue maybe with another type of bottle
    yet, this may help them.

    beautifully scripted.
