She entered the room full of roses, so many that
they covered the floor, leaving a mesmerizing
scent of new coupled with the freshly lit candles;

She looked to him sitting alone in the corner,
reading his word with his hands rested on his
knees as he slowly utters whispers into the air;

“Yes Father I will,” He spoke as he rose to his
feet to embrace his love with adoration and gently
kiss her brow as she surrendered to his hug;

She entered the room angered by the day, frustrated
by the weight of life, and with one swift word she
releases words of pain and anger towards him;

She speaks of anger and of yesterday, reliving the
pains of another by yelling at the one who is near
tearing at him like a rabid dog seeking destruction;

“Yes Father I will,” he whispers as he embraces her
and she rejects his love only to find her hand within
his as he looks to her and says, “Be still, my love.”

Years pass as she enters the seasoned room full of candles
lit at the center of the table where dinner awaits and the
sound of water running from the freshly drawn scented bath;

She looked to him sitting in the corner, reading his word,
leaning on his slightly wrinkled hands rested on his knees
as he barely utters whispers in the air, “Yes Father I will.”

He rises from his corner and embraces her with a kiss on her
brow and she cries when she looks to him saying, “Of all the
pain I have put you through, why do you still do so much for me?”

He gently leans back looking intently into her eyes with a hint of
surprise on his face, he quickly smiles as he lays his hand over the
cross that rested on his chest since the first day she ever saw him;

He speaks words that send shivers through her, leaving
her limp in his embrace, blinded by the flood of tears that
flow from the release of pain by his words sent from above,

“I didn’t do it for you…”
