Most presidents have airports, libraries and schools named after them.
But such is the unpopularity of President George W. Bush that liberal activists in San Francisco proposed to rename a city sewage plant after him.
The activists earlier this year gathered enough signatures to propose a ballot measure to rename the city-owned Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant the George W. Bush Sewage Plant.
However, official tallies released Wednesday showed that voters in the stridently liberal city balked at handing out such an insult to the elected leader of their country.
