George H.W. Bush's legacy on racial issues is complicated

...Bush got his start in politics in Texas, where he joined a Republican Party still regarded as "the party of Lincoln." During his first, losing bid for Congress in 1964, he criticized his opponent's support for the Civil Rights Act, legislation many in his home state opposed.

...posted on Twitter to remind people of the 41st president’s failure to adequately address the AIDS epidemic while he was in office. “Serving our country is great but remembering people and their actions clearly and accurately is important,” the “Queer Eye” star wrote.
