DETROIT — A judge has denied a gag order in the case of a 7-year-old girl who was killed during a police raid in her Detroit home last year.
Aiyana Jones was shot and killed May 16, 2010, by a member of the Detroit Police Special Response Team, who were executing a warrant.

Police have said an officer's gun accidentally discharged after he was bumped or jostled by the girl's grandmother.
A film crew with the A&E Network's "First 48" crime reality cable TV show was shadowing Detroit police on the raid.
Aiyana's family has filed a lawsuit against the city and the Detroit Police Department. The city had requested a gag order in the case, but Thursday’s ruling means the attorney representing Aiyana’s family -- Geoffrey Fieger -- can interview all of the officers who were at the scene. However, he still cannot interview the main officer in question.
Michigan State Police conducted a nine-month investigation and turned it over to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office in March.
The focus of the raid was Chauncey Owens, the fiance of Aiyana's aunt. Owens was wanted in the May 14, 2010 shooting death of 17-year-old Je'rean Blake outside a nearby convenience store.
Owens was found in the separate upstairs apartment.
