From Whence Did Love Cometh?
From whence, I’ve pondered
Did true love begin
Was it deep in the valley
Of a land without
Sin
Did it incubate in a chamber inundated with dreams
Dry roast in an oven of wonderful things
Did it undertake a journey of the greatest magnitude
Impregnate those around it with a kind…and cheerful mood
~ Was that the birth of love?
From whence, I wonder
Did true love bloom
Was it the meadow of eternity
Beneath a warm
December’s
Moon
Where there grew an ocean of pAtIeNcE
Watered by morning’s dew
Left me fantasizing the wonders
That I realized
In you
Is it the treasure of the rainbow
We “want” but never “seek”
Or, the well of youthful exuberance
That keeps us strong…but makes us weak
From whence, I beg you
Did true love come
Did it gather its strength from the rising sun
Has it endured hypocrisies, far and wide
Returned to celebrate with a joyful sigh
Did it take you on its journey
…Travel distances from afar
Like three wise men in Jesus’ day
Always following the northern star
From whence, I say
Did true love swoon
Was it along the river of contentment
Where every month is a day in June
Where April showers gave its serenity to May
May gifted it with flowers
…Air mailed it
My way
It came and went so ef-fort-less-ly
Made me giddy for a moment
But when it left, I was empty
Saying
To whence, I beg thee
Did true love flee
Left me barren
…As lonely as can be
From whence, I’ve pondered
Did true love begin

Of a land without

Did it incubate in a chamber inundated with dreams
Dry roast in an oven of wonderful things
