    An Ocean To A Stream

As teenage boys, we discover the wonders of SEX
Hopping into our bed is one girl…then the next
Nothing long-term…moving from one to another
NO time for HOMESTEADING…we just grab our next lover

The BIG 4-0…brought a flurry and a bang
That mid-life crisis had us reinventing our game
(Can’t even keep straight our baby mamas’ names)
Start thinking ‘bout the future; but can’t settle down with one
Coz finding that RIGHT one just ain’t that much fun

Your options are limited by years of ABUSE
Brought on by REJECTION of people you’ve misused
From your vast ocean of wonders, you discovered a dwindling sum
And found your ocean of possibilities now just a small pond

You tried the holding on to anything that moved
Having lost out on so many opportunities to groove
With that one person in your heart…you hoped still exists
Coz her existence is what brought you to this…THIS.

All the good ones were taken. Leaving skank-hoes and trash
And yo’ game wasn’t the same…once you took off the mask

“Where are the women who once craved to get in your bed?”
All you could see were misfits and crack heads

That ocean of possibilities you knew in your teens
Is now a small pond…castrating all your dreams

You missed out on the happiness you thought guaranteed
For morsels…scraps…a half-dozen of your seed

Fifty came. Your pond, a trickling stream
Though youthful beauty is occasionally seen
    It does not see
    YOU.

As a teen, you discovered the joys of great sex
You wandered around from one girl to the next
Hoping just one would allow you to flex
That one piece of flesh you wished never to relax

Years of fears saw you exercising that joint
Prostrated and elated while relating your point
You used and abused every woman you chose
When they see you today, every one of them knows

You’ve wasted a lifetime trying to find what you threw away
Bemoaning the life you now have, today

(Now that you’re too old to play.)

You wondered ‘bout a tomorrow you could no longer see
Couldn’t fathom a day where you were all you could be
Strapped down in a relationship with a subprime woman
In your teens you could have chosen one that was something

Let that be a lesson, y’all

Ain’t no mo’ flex’n going on up in this joint

From “Virginity Lost” to “Erotic Dreams”
Oceans of wonders discovered as teens
“Self Gratification” in your room, all alone
To the touch and feel of a person getting “Dome”

    Ah hem…

We explore the maze of hormonal change
    The thickness of your woody
    The bass in your twain

While acknowledging attraction to the opposite sex
Recognizing a pull you cannot neglect

    Innocence lost. Experience gained
Joy derived through the education of pain

    That…is…the…name.

    The pain of heartbreak
    The heartbreak of sadness
    The sadness of loss
The loss of innocence…and the overwhelming cost
    (To your life)

the depths of our childhood learnings...and the impact they have on our lives. the intensity of those emotions will never be enjoyed, again.
