We can vote for any party for POTUS while registered independent. State and local primaries require you registering as a dem or repub. You can switch back and forth.
Nevertheless, switching back and forth and voting as an independent, tends to give way to vote splitting, unless the switching and voting leads to populate the winner, whether in local or national elections.
The two(2) party system prevails and its troublesome to take chances when all ducks aren't lined up in a row.
