    Forgive me of my sins
I never meant to hurt you but me and your daddy didn't love then
We were just teenagers and just chillin
Naive to the world we didn't think of having children
    Never even thought about marrying
Just a little sex and a little freaking
Just wanted to feel good we weren't thinking about choosing
    Just sticking and licking
    We didn't care about picking

Forgive me of my sins little one
I hope you understand where I come from
I was just in high school, didn't know the battle wasn't half won
Was just living from day to day and acting dumb
Looking at the glitz and glamour around the hood where I came from
Jewels and money were more important to me because money I had none
I was willing to do whatever with whoever to get some
Your grandma was on welfare so you know I didn’t have none
I was suppose to walk but I always seemed to run
Now I'm sitting confessing to you who is heaven

Your daddy was a drug dealer
Thought it was love at first but he was a beater
The more he beat me, I stayed and it got worser
I was 15 and he was four years older
Drove a Box Chevy with a big motor
One minute he was nice the next he was the devil, maybe badder

After about a year together I found out I was pregnant
Telling your daddy, I was a little hesitant
But I finally told him and there he went
He left without a word, just stop coming
Now I feared of being a single parent
Told my mommy and she put me out in a instant
Dang, I was on my own all the way to the present

    I knew I couldn't have you, I just couldn't
So I went to my old ways and started freaking
I had to get rid of you because I didn't want you to coming into a world of sinning
Never thought twice about it, I just had to get an abortion
Once I got the eight hundred, can't tell you where it came from
But I went str8 for the clinic almost in a light run

Sitting in the clinic looking around at all the other lonely women
    I was sweating
    moaning
    and just plain tripping
I knew I had to do it though, murders and crime shouldn't be your beginning
Only mansions and pearls should be your beginning

The staff at the clinic tried to calm me
Asked me who they should call, where was my family
Truth was I only had my mommy
She was a single parent too but she didn't even want me
So I told them I didn't have any family
They did the procedure anyway, they just wanted their money
They DIDN’T even care about me

Baby I'm sorry forgive me of my sins
I hope you in heaven living lovely
And wherever your daddy is I know he pains just like me
    Just remember mommy loves you
And I had to do what I had to do
I did it because I was thinking about you
Abortion ain't good but in my situation I think it was the best for you
I would rather you live in heaven for eternity
    Than to live in poverty
    With me
    Forgive me of my sins.......

forgiveness is given , sometime in the depth of what we lack growning up
we get caught up in the mist and the feeling of love to be loved yet we face
dismay and hardship even choices to make in our young lives , sometime
the ones we make is painful yet the right choice made for better ship and growth

most important that we learn from our mistakes and capitalize to good will
surely you are forgiven for all sins and bad breaks keep your head up lil sis ,
you didn't mean for this to swing this way but it did and done now rejoice and
hold no guilt or hard feeling it was best and through confession you soul is redeemed
keep ya eyes on the sparrow my sista .

Oh naw, sorry, this is not my story. My story is not as complicated as this. This is my mentor's story. I decided I would just write her story through spoken word, you know. I'm always looking for a way to spread the word through my poetry. Thank you for feeling it.

Your words have such feeling in them, the reader may assume that it is about you. This story is probably the story of all too many. Thank you for so poetically telling it.

Thanks ya'll. I was trying to tap into her emotions for the situation. I'm glad that you felt it. Thank you.
