    Forget You Were A “G” (Part 1)
    By Monad.poetress

The first time we met our souls embraced and attached
I finally found someone with whom my soul truly matched
Until the night you came home with blood on your shirt
I thought that you were dying, I hurt because you hurt
You said its okay the cut is not too deep
On my cream colored carpet your blood began to seep
I began to cry and said “at the hospital is where you need to be”
    But you said to me
    “Baby I’m cool”
    “I can handle it I’m a “G”
At that time I ignored it my mind was too distraught
But maybe I should have listened to the lesson being taught
    You never shed a tear
I cried those tears for you
That night I prayed “Lord please bring him thru”

All the nights you stayed out I swore a woman was the cause
I never even imagined you broke all those laws
Cause when you came home you were my gentleman
The one who cooked and held my hand
The one who watched MARTIN with me
    and laughed that goofy laugh
Never did I know your life’s crooked path

    The collect call startled me
You were locked behind those bars
I made my way to you – It wouldn’t have mattered it you were on Mars
You said “go back to the house “
“look in your closet get my new Jordans out”
“That’s where the loot is, that’s where I have the clout”
I bailed you out that day and I was back by your side
But I said “baby you got anything else you tryin’ to hide”
Your eyes got real sad and you turned away from me
You said baby I’m not hiding
    “I have always been a “G”

I cried that night for my man
I know he’s right for me
Just if I can make him forget he was a “G”

and i am so serious it brought tears to my eyes
and we stick by our brothers, that is true
and some hide from us the truth
and it seem from your poem he was hurt just as bad as you
that something like this, had to bring out the truth
    keep the flow coming
    Peace~N~Love

You really brought us into this story, I was all into it. Sometimes love is enough to make someone want to change, sometimes not. This was so well written.

    Sister...
all I can say is "Powerful"
the words, the story, the emotion...
the energy the ran through each stanza...
    stirred my soul tears...
    maaan...
Love, it looks beyond a multitude of things...
and no matter what...that Love, always endures

This was beautiful and heartwrenching at the same time...
    Powerful peace...
