:spinn: Just curious brother 'J', is it the delivery or the information? PS: Eric is a counter racist, I have read a few of his books, Tim Wise is refreshing if only because he seeks to speak truth. It would be wonderful if he took his message to majority white/racist audiences, simply because "they" need to hear it, but, be that what it may they appear to be working to replace white supremacy, hopefully with Justice!

    Peace!

Ty for that post bro Old soul,

Everyone needs to hear that message so we can stop the attitudes of old and bring truth to the light. Its a new day, not to say that racism is over but to change the minds and attitudes of young folks before they can be made up and become apart of this racist problem and thought that is so woven into our national concious. Tim Wise is a very good reason why we shouldnt hate all white people. What I am about to say may ruffle some feathers but here it goes. I cant stand Michale eric dyson and let me tell you why. I used to be a big fan of his until he came to my alma. He said a number of things that just didnt sit well with me. First off he believes that hes an authority on hip hop but im not even going to get into that. He came on stage and basically began his message by rapping. Im like wow is that because were at an hbcu and you think thats the only thing we understand? Then he made some off the cuff remarks about bro Malcolm by saying "while Malcolm was hiding up in harlem the real fight was in montgomery" (as if black people werent being brutalized all over the US at that time) Then he made a statement something to the likes of "thank god for the HBCU, cuz with my sons' grades he wasnt going no where else" I was like wtf? Are you hearing this? I asked my friend. This guy just totally disrepected us and our school. On top of that he disrepected Malcolm X. I was ready for war. Then when asked why he doesnt teach at an HBCU he claims he's never been asked and they dont pay enough. At that point I was done with Michale Eric Dyson, he is a Tom and a sellout no matter how you dress it up. He is not for the cause, hes for the fame and fortune. When I emailed Dyson about his comments at DSU I didnt get a response, I wonder why?

i have had a similar experience with dyson here in philly so you are not alone.
i am not a fan of dyson but i will not spend the time to talk about him.
i rather spend my time trying to do something positive for my people.

Tim Wise is the real deal. I use him as a reference when combatting the 'white liberal' arguments concerning reverse racism. He speaks of their racism as a disease.

I have to agree. And I am short of making the same opinion regarding Cornell West. A few months ago I had a long discussion (non-argumentive) with my daughter about this and she is in grad school now and agreed with me. Surprising, no argument. I do have a few books by both of them but they are buried somewhere. Just another 'Crisis of the NEGRO Intellectual'.
