For the love of poetry
I take a look, more closely
Writing down what I may miss initially
For the love of poetry
For the love of poetry
I remember that tree in late fall
The one with the wine colored leaves
Inebriated I drank in the beauty of it all
That red, so deep and vivid
One of the last trees to lose it's leaves
Their texture appeared to be velvet
The vividness of that beauty cleaves
For the love of poetry
His smile captures the world's goodness and light
and illuminates all the dark corners of the earth
making the sun merely dream of shining so bright
His smile must be infectious
it stokes my temperament until it glows
becoming a welcome, inviting hearth
that warms me from my head to my toes
For the love of poetry I
see the notes of that song multiply
morphing into humanoid form
limber arms and legs stretching to the sky
In unison black dancers
prance in symmetry
Closing my eyes, I see them dance just for me
Ah...for the love of poetry
I take a look, more closely
Writing down what I may miss initially
