Dedication from your mentor...A Poem for Same Gender Loving MEN

With young black boys
I become their opposition
To a world of not yet discovered identity
Of manhood
Of masculinity
Of unknown
Femininity

Confidence of who I am
And knowledgeable of the journey it took to get there
Yong black boys
of black realities
and black parents
and black communities
With progressive black churches
Fear all association
Due to fear of being blacklisted
Even by their own

As I was
As I am
As I will be
In those cracks where my expression of love is a crime
The highest form of treason
I fight
I endure the rejection
The homophobic remark collection
And even the envy detection
For young black boys
Whose opposition I am
And in whose reality
We all try to coexist

And for the pain I received
I do my work
And for the love I was given
I do my work
And for the stares that glares in my direction
I keep my course
And partake in the struggle

For one day
When young black boys are no longer
And young men they become
Our expression of love
Will be understood
And opposition will be no longer
The chosen sword
