finally saw Tyler's adaptation.. and wow.. what a mess.. really.. it was just so
badly done. Some of the scenes were just embarassing.. artistically speaking..
There was so much he could have done with this material.. and these actors.
But once again, here we go.. the evil black man damaging the otherwise perfect
black woman.. beating her.. raping her.. cheating on her with other women..
with other men.. giving her HIV.. and unwanted pregnancies.. and other sexual
diseases.. dropping her babies out of windows.. controlling her.. molesting her
daughter.. and driving her crazy.. and on and on.. the eeeeevvvilll black man..
just down low.. and dirty.. a predator waiting to pounce on you and and take
your sex..your life.. your kids.. your money.. everything.. it was just crazy..
he creates all of this dramatic tension then just forgets about it and starts
creating some more somewhere else. As a writer/director he has no sense
whatsoever of how to control tension.. of when to use it and when to release it
in service of plot. This movie is just a bunch of scenes connected that don't
add up to anything in particular. I'm sure the playwright is grateful for the
money.. but artistically she has got to be burning up.

He's giving what most ppl want (not need) which is drama....I have grown tired of his stuff and it also makes not just our blk men look bad but us collectively.

no.. it is his work. though the source material is scattered in there.. this is his work. '
I have a copy of the script up on my screen right now. And even if he
didn't write it.. he directed it.. and the director is directly responsible for what
you see on that screen. and.. did I say that all the women in the movie were light-skinned?

    Oh no he didn't.

You're right. We just don't need this right now. The propaganda should be focused the other way, in my opinion. We need to have stories to build up the positive Black men so desperately now.

No but your title implies it..but whatever.. and are you in the movie industry? i ask because you gave such a deep critique of the movie..

Tyler Perry gets alot of flak from the black community, he is only one person who is reflection of the community/family from which he came out of...he had a f$%%& up childhood, and is now projecting that experience onto the screen. He has every right to do so, but the problem arises when there aren't any other black producers putting out works to balance out the images...

    welcome to the club.....

many of us had childhood experiences that were less than ideal.
some of us get our act together and move on. others remain stuck in the mess.
just because little tyler had a bad experience is no excuse for him becoming a monster.
he has more than enough money to hire a good therapist and get fixed. that is what i did.

    tyler needs to man up.
