under the sun
"to understand a parent
you must first become one"

I never believed that~
I thought being a parent was a path
you made for yourself~
you didn't walk in anothers footsteps

but you do

and the footsteps are familiar

they have the same ability
to annoy you
seem unfair to you
control you
remind you

it all comes full circle
never-ending
remaining unbroken

now I place my feet
in my mothers footprints
and am not suprised to find
they match perfectly

and I see my children walking in mine

only now I know the importance
of all the rules
the questions
the demanding of answers
the guidelines
and the comfort of walking~
in my mothers footprints

and I know I have to be patient
and wait for each of them to realise
that the footprints I leave along the path
were walked for a reason
and with love

and just like me
with my mother before me
they will realise the importance of each step

and know it was imprinted
in the path of their life
from the heart of their mother

sharing wisdom...

even when it's not appreciated, is the roll of a parent--especially, a mother. as a parent, i've found so many things i claimed i'd never do--as a child--i've done...and was proud of how i did them. as we grow, we realize the wisdom our parents imparted...and want to impart that onto our own kids.

keep teaching...there are many listening eyes out here.

I simply agree

lovin it how u spread wisdom down like life
coz we all walked the steps of our parents
we do pass it down the road of life to our own
gurl u most def on target and correct........
beautifully written of self expression:heart:

baller...thank you for you comments..they are so true...as well I'd have to say we also have to remember that we were once that age too, and judge accordingly..everything in life is a learning experience, and some learn harder than others...

A..thank you from my heart...it all comes down to love doesn't it..

Rich...I just wish my mama could see me as a mother now..then she'd know that I really did listen...
