broken hearts are hard to mend
especially when broken over and over again
across the fragments fall trickling tears
a river of emotion from the wasted years

forever only lasted 2 years 3 weeks and 6 days
had found yourself, but eventually got lost in his ways
holding on for dear life when he don’t want to stay
losing faith in love so now you start to pray

what could you have done different
could it be that this wasn’t meant
seems as if he was heaven sent
in the twinkle of a eye love came and it went

forever was forgotten and paradise lost
infidelity has a price and your love paid the cost
he invested too much time in the ways of the world
another tragic case of boy meets girl

the scars are deep and the wounds still burn
sometimes love is hard lesson learned
    everybody plays the fool
    maybe this was your turn
now solitude is the only thing for which you yearn

later in life you’ll give it another try
later in life you’ll stop asking why
even the caged bird eventually flies
and i can see you as you soar through the sky
    gone on fly girl

    re: fly girl

word! almost every woman i know has gone through this. i definitly understand how it feels. i remember protecting my heart after it was broken. even now that i have a man... a real man... i find myself being defensive a little bit. sometimes i just can't help it. but i would never make the decision to never love again. like the saying goes... it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all! great read... girl you kept it real.

    Flyy Girl

has anyone read the book, "Flyy Girl" by Omar Tyree. it is a really good book about a girl growing up in the eighties/early nineties when everyone was fly. this poem made me think about this because in the book, she talks about different relationships with men and how she grew mentally from her experiences...

I appreciate all the love from my fellow poets
the poem was inspired by observations i've made
and also by Omar Tyree's book

just for the record....I'm a man

    thanks for the love

    Always nice...

Always nice to hear from a man who understands the trials and tribulations of women. And vice versa I'm sure. Though you completely caught me off guard with the "I'm a man", based on the depth of understanding, I ASSUMED as others, that you were one of us;)
