In a NJ based slave reparations lawsuit, Fleet Bank (which recently merged with the Bank of America) is named as one of the companies which profited from the slave trade. I don't know if this lawsuit will be successful, but irregardless of this, no African American should do business with an organization which directly financied our oppression. I have an account with Fleet, that I will be closing today (along with a letter stating why I am closing the account). I encourage other African Americans with Fleet accounts to do the same.

Now that the two financial institutions have merged, they are the same. Ironically I had accounts at both, and will now bank with neither.
