For five minutes could you look at the true me?
But lord I pray every thing you see aint what I know about me
What you see now is honey dipped in fakeness, sugar coded with what I think you want to hear, and see, what you want me to do, HELL if you ask right I’m sure I’d be anything you want me to be.

Now for five minutes could you look at the true me?
I tell you what I think you’d see
A young woman that’s life scorned
    Ambition born
    Confused
But I’d be **** if I let you abuse me
    that is mentally
Cause physically you could only whip me and strong **** dip me

So for five minutes could you look at the true me?
I’m sure you would if you could
Get pass the guard I put up so that no one can touch me to much
Unless you got that magic touch
    Some call it game
and yeah it’s a **** shame that I fall into yo trap and you tell yo boys
Broa ‘I got her bent, sprung and dumb off this magic stick’

For five minutes could you look at the true me?
And when you do tell what it is you see
Is it the HBCU that I go to?
Or the black women I try to be?
The shoes that I wear because that’s what ‘what’s her name’ had on TV
The way that I talk because, the way that I walk because, the way that I love because, the way that I me because the world said this is the way it should be.

For five minutes could you look at the true me?
Or wait that might be to long
Cause these words that I’m speaking aren’t what you expected
When you first heard the question

For five minutes could you look at the true me?
But lord I pray every thing you see aint what I know about me
I gave you what happened when I took five minutes to look.
At my reflection and I’m not sure if what I saw was everything you wanted me to be
But one thing I know I keep it real I didn’t hide or try to fake an appeal.

Now for five minutes could you look at your reflection and tell me everything you see.

You get at least fifteen minutes of fame.

I got five on it, and enjoyed every minute of you, flow-on!
