After three season as head football coach of NotreDame
Tyrone Ty Willingham was fired with a three season record of 21 - 15
he was to be a promising good black coach , from History of the school
in three years how other coaches fair out Lou Holtz was 25 - 10 coach
for 11 years Gerry Faust 18 - 15 coach for over 6 years and this go on
he was the shortest of all and was fired his replacement and top candidate
    is UTAH'S Urban Meyers.....................................................................

    AFRICAN AMERICAN COACHES
THE COALITION question whether Ty got a fair shake
many players feel he didn't Sylvester Croom of Mississippi st. and Karl Dorrell
of UCLA are the last two from 8 black coaches in the I-A division

Hill stated african American should and deserved a fair shake and the
opportunity to succeed or fail like every other coach the coalition looking
into the matter to see if his firing was race related Notre Dame say he was
released because they didn't win enough football games but Willingham
was question from the start of hired and was fired without allowing him
the same chance as other coaches that had failed at Notre Dame

do you think he was treated fair and given time to turn this football
program around he had a 2002 great season only 3 none winning games.

I believe he was wrongly fired without a chance to blossome.

Okay, I will let all the people who complain that this WAS NOT a racial issue go first.

even they say it wasn't , and he was fired for not winning enough games but other
white coaches also had losing seasons back to back and stayed on for years as
coach of this highly tame white Irish college but the Black man was fired , they even
question his ability from the stare but after the last coach resign they gave him a shot
that lasted short and even the players feel he was dismised wrongly
it indeed to me a Racial issue........must be for the Coalition to step in !!!! shame .......

it's only two Black football Coaches left in the Divisional I-A class
Mississippi st. & UCLA Croom & Dorrell the other 6 been fired or released .

Why don't they fire coaches from the following D-1A Universities:

    Nebraska
    Houston
    Middle Tennessee State
    Buffalo

All the schools with LOSING programs. Notre Dame beat Tennessee, that to me is an accomplishment. It is just a matter of not letting black coaches in the league.

I think instead of fighting to become D-1A coaches, our black coaches should get with the black players, and discuss creating a BLACK COLLEGE FOOTBALL LEAGUE!

    Just a thought.

Well, Justice has prevailed a bit-if true. Word is the guy they wanted-former ND assistant coach and Utah's head coach,Urban Meyer(is he kin to Russ Meyer the late director of skin flicks in the 60's?), turned down Notre Dame and took the Florida job. If true, ND has egg on THEIR faces, again!!!!!

Guess what just to make you more aware of what you just said:

FAMU (Florida A&M University) just went D-1A, and Bethune (who didn't go D-1A) has been :whip: for the last few years. Look forward to them up there bust most importantly, look forward to our HBCU's being successful. I have faith, the right men will step up and put some All-African boys out there on that field.
