    Fingertips And Toes

    The procession
    Began
    At his fingertips
    And ended
    At the point
    Of her toes

    Somewhere
    In the middle

    He began
    To strangle her

    And
    She choked
    On the edge
    Of where
    Lost love goes

    To die

    Over

    And over

    And over

    As
    Insults slide
    Down the middle
    Of tongues

    Until
    His fingerprints
    Leave traces
    On her
    Unmarked skin

    And
    The domesticity
    Of violence
    Unwittingly succumbs

    To the cavalcade
    Of fists
    Beating
    Drums of fury

    And skin
    Hitting high notes
    With pain

    In this place
    There is no mercy
    For the memories

    So
    She stifles
    Her need to explain

    How

    Not so long ago
    She kissed his fingers

    And the knuckles
    And the cuticles
    Tasted like love

    Now
    She chokes
    On the aftertaste
    Of melted
    Cotton candy

    As he drapes her
    On the tips
    Of her toes

    And
    Inside of his eyes
    She becomes
    Hypnotised

    By
    The final death
    Of his embrace

    As her feet
    Levitate
    Above the burial grounds

    In the place
    Where lost love goes

    My Belle

from beginning, to middle, to end...this is peace simply because it speaks of how sweetly love rises, wells within us, and sometimes gradually slips & falls between fingertips and toes.

memories are for many things ~ they are oftentimes our guideposts on this road we travel, that we may not pass that way again....

    *looking forward* :)

    beautiful, sis!

W.O.W. = Woman of Wonder -- that was wonderful, don't ever want to go there though ... wow again, I can't say enough about this piece, it took us all there I think, anyway!
