    you can cut me with
    your eyes and stare
    at me in your thoughts
    of opposition

    you can brand me with
    iron coils from the grip
of both hands at the very
    root of your fingertips and
the pain still won't sway me
    to support your fraudulent
    motives in pursuit of ambition

you can either debate with me
    or listen

what do you hunger and thirst for?
are you willing to pay the price?
did you ever stop and think about
the reasons why we are here and
the people who made that ultimate
    sacrifice?

when you hear the sound of my voice
don't look down or even frown for I was
once among the lost sheep but now
    I'm finally found

you walk among the living dead and
nothing seems to replace your hunger
and thirst continuing to worship false idols
of money, fame, and various forms of
distinction to maintain or better yet replace
the quality of your worth rightfully given to
    you since birth

yes, you walk among the living dead and
are willing to the pay the price but fail to
realize the things of this earth you secure
are not entirely one of God's blessings in
fact you are basically defending the Devil's
    curse

you continue to walk among the living dead
without a reason or care in the world showing
the extent of your true progress for you are
willing to settle rather than take the time to
stop and think about it all

    you can cut me with
    your eyes and stare
    at me in your thoughts
    of opposition

    you can brand me with
    iron coils from the grip
of both hands at the very
    root of your fingertips and
the pain still won't sway me
    to support your fraudulent
    motives in pursuit of ambition

you can either debate with me
    or listen

what do you hunger and thirst for?
are you willing to pay the price?
did you ever stop and think about
the reasons why we are here and
the people who made that ultimate
    sacrifice?

    hmmm...

this was a thoughtful piece, it could apply to many things, from an individuals search for validation to the war at hand. at least, that's how i read it. i like the formatting and the nature of the discourse. it speaks to the battle we all must fight, between self and society, mind and soul.
