    days brightened by
    the sun's rays
    I...
    endulge in extracurricular
    activities to
    fill a void

    no work today
    indulge in play
    rhythm of the djembe
    makes my hips sway
    to and fro
    back and forth across
    the flo

    temporary relief from

    A Lonesome Soul

    ~unconscious~

    soles pound the earth
    in ethnic tribal rhythms
    ancestrial spirits dance in delight

    in search of
    Peace and Solitude

    night's bright moonlight
    brings me to

    ~consciousness~

    A Lonesome Soul

    on the moon's screen
    I see a reflection of

    Ahhh ME nahtah

    working/dancing/praying/crafting
actively embracing the things I love
    things that...
    invoke happiness
    yet
    bring pain
    pondering if it's
    all in vain

no one to share my glory
dance with me in the rain
    this...

    thirty year old

    Soul Lonesome

    observes as couple commits
to a lifetime of marital bliss

    and my eyes fill with
    God's tears dropping on breasts
    that...
    one day hope to feed
    man and child

    God will fill this need
I can see it on the
    moon's screen
    but...right now
    my

    Soul is Lonesome

is it wrong to question God?

    when/how long will I have to wait/
    /in vain/for

    my

    Lonesome Soul to be made

    WHOLE?

    sometimes

we find the beauty within us during our times alone....and strength....and peace....

and sometimes we find the value in our 'down' time we would never have found in the company of another....

but we must seek to gain the benefit from every part of our circumstance...

    and GrOw on

this is a very poignant release....

    thank you sista Afri

    No, thank YOU Alyce

thank you for your words of wisdom. I can't ever remember feeling as lonesome as I do now but, I will continue to seek the benefit of my circumstance and GrOw on. ;)

I wish I had sistah friends like you, Shery and the rest of the fam here in Buffalo. The women here are triflin and not very supportive at all.

    This is beautiful...

I love this piece...I felt and heard every word...Even at my young age...I have thought exactly what you are thinking now. I'm sure almost every woman at some point in their life can relate. Just know that you are not alone. And lonliness is only in your mind. Because your Father is always their beside you to talk to you..to hold you...to comfort you. Be it the pillow you hold when you sleep at night...be the friend that listens to your wary pains....Be a mother, brother, sister or friend their to comfort you. You are not alone.... Just be happy with what God has given...for that will hold so much more than what you are looking for. You'd be surprised that if you open your eyes...May just find what your looking for. Good luck...and God Bless you my child on journey ahead....

Shaneak~ I appreciate yur blessing sis!!!

$$Rich$$$~ so you're waiting too? I thought you found the one who completes you?

So'ja! Yes bro, I hear you loud and clear. Sharing my love through dance, poetry, spending time and helping my elders in need...it's all wonderful and makes me feel good. But it hurts when you still have a desire to share the days events with a significant other (who doesn't exsist). Feel me?

    yeah

afri, everybody needs love but you have to stay strong, cause is it love or sex a person is looking for, and if that significant others isn't hold their weight a person can do bad all by their lonesome.

IT's a catch 22, but don't be with someone just for the sake of being with someone, you won't be happy,

good things come to those who WAIT, and if you're patient and don't chase it it WILL COME believe me I know

I know what you are going thru for I have been here. It seems like an eternity, but hold on for daybreak is coming....He that is meant for thee is on Love's Sea, sailing his way into your forever...

    afri,

there's nothing abnormal about how you're feeling.
one day when God has graced you with your desire,
you'll see that time wasn't as long as your lonesomeness made it seem.
it will be worth the wait..

u know what, i bet he (your soulmate) is having the same feeling until you both meet......
