i ordered a watch from AMAZON on monday afternoon.
turns out the watch was actually sitting in a store in singapore.
the singapore store handed the watch to FEDEX on tuesday morning (local time).
FEDEX moved the watch to japan then from japan to kentucky and on into philadelphia.
the FEDEX guy just handed it to me at my home thursday morning, 9AM. shipping charges were $28.
they have used the internet and the jet airplane to tie the world together.

I've done my time at FedEx as a tug driver and inspector of cargo for one year, they don't play. I say "time" because its like prison, for real... In fact, I was there on the day of 9/11.

    Yep, Fred Smith ain't playing...

i just got back from my local repair guy to get it fitted.
my last seiko had lasted about 15 years. i expect the same from the this one.

i paid less and got better quality then what they had at macy's.
i paid about half of what i paid at macy's for the old one.

i wonder if the local brick and mortar stores even know what they are up against?

i had my computer built to order in china.
they built it and shipped it from china to japan to Alaska and into philly within 10 days.
it's been running ok for three years now.

Two outstanding points you make, its a good looking watch and it cost less; and the present day global market continues to wreak havoc for those markets that don't improvise and fine tune to fit in where they get in.

    That's called logistics and processes.

And no, this isn't just from a UPS commercial.

i am impressed by how they can start up a new technology and then turn it into a money making vehicle.
i wish i was smart enough to figure out a way to dip my finger into that cash flow and get a little for myself.

I'm lost when you say "start up a new technology." If you are still referring to FedEx, and Fred's idea, it was simple, hire a bunch of black and poor folk; buy some old airplanes and work both to death... Nothing new about it.
