[Bishop]

4th of July
Sun high in sky
Barbecue grilling
Cokes & Pepsi are chilling
Potato salad and greens
Candied yams, pigs feet
Playing bid whiz & softball
Is that Willie’s boy looking so tall?
Hattie Mae & Aunt Mary is here
Look at Uncle Nate go for his 5th beer
Chitllins done, along with the sweet potato pie
Smelling so good, aroma rising high
Music jumping,
bass line thumping
Junebug keeps drinking till he starts slumping
but that how it is when family gets together
with that special love that’s bound to last forever.
