"As the White House begins a series of meetings today on the looming "fiscal cliff," a coalition of the largest corporate firms and advocacy groups is lobbying for wide-ranging cuts in government spending, including to programs like Medicare and Social Security. The group, which includes 80 of the country’s most powerful CEOs, is called The Campaign to Fix the Debt. It was co-founded by former Clinton White House chief of staff, Erskine Bowles, and former Republican Sen. Alan Simpson, previously the co-chairs of President Obama’s bipartisan National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform. Critics have accused the group of using the budget crisis to push for corporate tax cuts. We are joined by Sarah Anderson, director of the Global Economy project at the Institute for Policy Studies and co-author of the new report, "The CEO Campaign to ‘Fix’ the Debt: A Trojan Horse for Massive Corporate Tax Breaks."

Our focus on Obama needs to be that he does not use social security as a barganing chip for getting the tax cuts to expire. Do not let him do this. It's not for him to do this. We as well as every one else must not let congress get away with this against the so called american people.

This is how we are being played.

This county's biggest expense is the military, it's what has gotten the U.S in debt.

I agree with you perhaps on most issues but...

A "false" financial cliff...it is quite real..most of us Black folks have already fallen off...some us us are recovering so...white folks are the ones who are worried the most because as they fall off their fall is much deeper and farther down the money pit.

I don't totally agree with you. In this case we will loose part of our social security as well as whitey.....

Sure we are worst off then them..... but we will suffer more after 65 because we have fewer resources..

our earn income benefits (social security) is our insurance for when we get old (if we live that long). It's our money, not theirs to play with. We are being deceived when they call it entiltlements.

By false I mean it's not the end of the world, that they are pushing for.

    No takers :) ??

I'm only going by what I've read from the Supreme Court cases concerning Social Security.
I can summon and highlight the relevant entries to see if you arrive at the same conclusion that I do.

It's what the politicians are calling this nation debt to the federal reserve bank. and that we spend more then we tax annually. though these things are real, even though the paper money is not. The push for controlling what the gov. spends on it's citizens, instead of the military is a bogus excuse for asterity measures.

A third of the "national" debt is to foreign nations.

If you have your own stuff and can produce your own stuff, you won't have to "share the shortage" with everyone else.
