MARK ZUCKERBERG PREPARES TO GET FILLETED BY CONGRESS
Facing a congressional flaying, the Facebook C.E.O. is getting in some practice with the press

... The nearly hour-long call was something of an about-face for the typically reticent Zuckerberg, who seems to prefer communicating through typed statements posted to his own platform or via recorded video messages. But following a data-privacy scandal that’s growing steadily worse, Facebook has deployed its c-suite to seize control of the narrative before it can spiral, soothing spooked investors and compiling a sizzle reel for Zuckerberg to parade before lawmakers when he testifies before the House Energy and Commerce Committee next week.

... Two years ago, a court froze around $6 million of the company's cash after it didn't hand over data for a criminal investigation over drug smuggling. It seems the social media platform still isn't cooperating, Reuters reports that a judge just handed down a 111.7 reais ($33 million) fine regarding Facebook's failure to grant authorities access to messages as part of a health fraud investigation.

A Facebook joke sparked an argument – and a child ended up dead, Alabama police say
    BY SCOTT BERSON

... An investigator testified in court that 26-year-old Martin Evenes made a joke on Facebook that his new girlfriend, 27-year-old Brittany Kingston, had assaulted him, AL.com reported. That post sparked an argument between Kingston and Evenes’ ex-girlfriend Ashley Brown, which then grew to include the little girl’s mother, who was Brown’s friend, and Evenes himself, the news site reported.

“CAN HE SEEM REPENTANT?”: INSIDE MARK ZUCKERBERG’S CHARM OFFENSIVE

... With the pressure on, everything from the contents of Zuckerberg’s remarks to the volume of his sweat is under the microscope. “I would expect tough questions from the usual suspects—people like Dianne Feinstein or Amy Klobuchar—but what really matters is how Zuckerberg responds to the line of questions he’ll receive,” a crisis-communications expert told me.

Fake Black Lives Matter page on Facebook eclipsed the real thing
    [IMG]
    Jon Fingas
    Engadget

Facebook has had some success purging fake and misleading pages, but it's evident there's still work to do. CNN has discovered that the most popular Black Lives Matter page for the past year was a scam -- it was supposedly fundraising for BLM causes in the US, but sent at least some money to Australian bank accounts and frequently linked to the websites from Ian Mackay, a workers' union official in Australia. It had nearly 700,000 followers where the real activist group's page has less than half that amount ...

The biggest Black Lives Matter page on Facebook is fake
    by Donie O'Sullivan @CNNTech

... The page, titled simply "Black Lives Matter," had almost 700,000 followers on Facebook, more than twice as many as the official Black Lives Matter page. It was tied to online fundraisers that brought in at least $100,000 that supposedly went to Black Lives Matter causes in the U.S. At least some of the money, however, was transferred to Australian bank accounts, CNN has learned.
