I thought the world was peaceful.
A democratic government all about the people
But every time I walk out the door
Those were just a few words that I’ve longed for
And that I don’t even believe in anymore

Because if it was all about the people,
Why are the people still being corrupted by the government?
    See, it’s not my government
‘Cause it hasn’t done anything to benefit me
And if it’s such a “free” country
Why do you have to be 18 to buy cigarettes and 2 vote?
    But 21 to drink
And even if I do drink
Someone older can buy it for me
So maybe our government is teaching us to die young
And it we last a few more years,
We can drink that one bottle of Hennessey at our own funeral
See these laws are all f**ked up
An 18 year old can vote, smoke and drive
But they can’t drink, well not legally
BUT a 76 year old can do whatever the f**k they wanna do

This government is all messed up
How in the hell did Bush get into office?
Isn’t the president supposed to represent the country as a whole?
Well I’m not about to let a man who can barely speak English represent me
I’m not about to let a man who was in rehab for drinkin’ represent me
You see, it’s because of his drinking
That the whole country is in jeopardy
And he had the nerve to say, "WE’RE GOIN’ TO WAR!”
With excitement in his voice…no YOU are goin’ 2 war
It’s funny how he mentions “we” when **** goes down
But at first it was all about him walking over us like we’re some ants on the ground
Makin’ decisions like he’s this big a*s king
    With this big a*s crown

Bush is full of **** and so is this government
And people have the nerve to rely in it
    Well not me
‘Cause I’m like the army, see
I’m gonna be all that I can be
And while Bush is trying to control another country
    He needs to control his
He needs to control all these killings that are happening
Just the other day ANOTHER innocent boy got shot
Not to mention the girl from Manuel who was on her way from school
And got shot for no reason,
    Maybe there was a reason
Some guy felt like killin’ that day
So that gave him the permission to take someone’s life away?
Believe it if you want to
‘Cause children are quickly being born, but just as quickly they are taken away
    So you better pray
That the next one taken away isn’t you
Because if it happened to them
It can just as easily happen to us 2
All because this world is f**ked up, and
All it takes is one time
    For your lungs to collapse
Which forces you to stop breathing
And sad to say, it leads to your life to stop living

Times are getting harder everyday and they’re getting’ no better
‘Cause right when you handle one problem
Remember, there’s always another one headed straight your way
That’s why they say, “The richest man isn’t always the happiest man”
Well that’s why my mom use to say
And mamma does know best, right?
Maybe if we had a few mothers running this government
Then none of this would be happening
    Yes it would
‘Cause wherever there’s sin things are bound to happen

Just stay strong and be thankful for every breath taken in
‘Cause reality check, it can be taken away just as quickly as it was given!
And as silk once sang, “There’s a meeting in my bedroom…”
well there’s one in mines and don’t be late
This meeting is a prayer to God above
To relieve us from this stress and to help us go on
To bless my family and I with another day
    That would be so helpful

‘Cause I thought the world was peaceful.
A democratic government all about the people
But every time I walk out the door
Those were just a few words that I’ve longed for
And that I don’t even believe in anymore!

This is a brilliant and truthful piece! Not to mention that at 18, you are old enough to die for your country, but you sho aint old enough to drink.
