Most of todays Sunday morning shows all had something about Barack Obama and his potential run for president in 2008.

I've seen him on C-span campaigning all over the country the last few weeks.

He's been either on the cover or significantly featured in at least 4 major news magazines within the past 3 months.

White folks seem geniunely in love with the man...crats and publicans alike.

What is everyone's take on Barack Obama?

Why do whites seem to adore him so much?

Are we ready for a black president?

I will certainly leave the question (or leave those questions) to the Politicians and constituencies who orchestrate it.

Brother Kemetkind ... i think it's what Mr. Neely Fuller, Jr. calls ...

    RACIAL SHOWCASING

That means, taking huge numbers of black people and putting them out front. It's going to be more of this, all over the planet. Many millions of Black people that you will see, who will be rolling in money. They will be able to showcase the places where they live. They will be able to showcase their knowledge, and expertise. See, you have television now; you have all of the mediums for doing this, for showcasing huge numbers of Black people. I will say it will eventually run into the millions, so many that you won't be able to count them. Now what is this for? This is for any Black person that starts talking about racism in the future, is going to be laughed at, because they are gonna be able to showcase so many Black people who are what you call "successful" that it will seem that racism has been put out of business. But white supremacy is a world business, and like any other business, it works on profits and losses, which means percentages. You go into business; you expect a certain amount of loss. If you're in the grocery business, well you might have a load of asparagus that is spoiled, but overall, you will make more profits than you have losses, if you're going to stay in the business. Now, so the white supremacist knows that the cost of doing the business of white supremacy is going up. They can no longer get away with Joe Louis and Lena Horne, like they did years ago. They have to have many, many, many more Black people who are going to be "showcased." I made up this term, just to explain it; you have to make up terms because they won't make them up for you. So, now that's the first phase, or one of the first elements, in the maximum confusion. And so that Black people won't be able to say, they'll say ... well, you know, there must be something wrong with me, that I’m down and out and don't have a biscuit to eat, because there are so many millions of Black people, who have so much, so it can't be race. But see, for the four or five million Black people who will be showcased, there will be hundreds of millions, worldwide, who won't have a biscuit. That's the way the business operates in the future, and will be, that's the way it seems to be going according to what ... the evidence ... according to the logic.

Not that I really want to start up a discussion on this matter (not worth the time), but if he is doing so well as Senator of Illinois, Why is Chicago's Black Community facing little to no change?

...And this is the same person who will be "president" of the Country?

These are good questions Bro. Kemetkind, particularly if one has a keen interest in politics, which I tend not to have. I'll be honest, I can't seem to trust or believe in anyone who is involved in politics these days. Someone may have honorable and admirable intentions at the onset of a political career, but I honestly believe that, most if not all, eventually are corrupted.

Obama....he's charismatic. He has that style of a Black preacher that many Black people gravitate toward and liberal whites do as well. He's not bad looking; he's youthful and vibrant, which I think draws people to him. He's married with a young family which seems to sell healthy family values these days. He's a dynamic speaker who seems well versed on a broad number of topics. I'd like to see the popularity polls to see who among white people seem to be intrigued and supportive of him. Is it more white women than white men? If white men like him, maybe they don't see him as a threat to the status quo and think if he's in office, it will be "business as usual". If white women like him, well....maybe their reasons are different than those of white men--who knows? Because it's politics, I'm always suspect about almost everything.

As for the Dems, I thought they were pushing Hillary's campaign for 2008, getting her ready for a challenge from Condi. I know that Condi has denied running for the position in 2008, but what politician can you trust to tell the truth about that, especially this early?

Are "we" ready for a Black president? I guess that would depend on who that Black person is and which party that person ran in. I also think it would depend on if any of us cared about the color of the person as opposed to what that person stood for. I do believe that this country has come far since Shirley Chisholm ran in the 70s. I don't think there has been a serious Black contender since her. Today, I could see America having a president with a Black face, but not necessarily representing the views of most Black people. To expect much change in favor of Blacks from a Black president would be politically naive in my view. I just don't know of anyone out there as radical as that. I could be wrong, but that's the way I see it at the moment.

This is why it is so important for us to countinue to communicate and also most importantly really truly try to support each other on all levels. The racial showcasing is exactly what it is. The major problem with this is that because of many of our people desire to be accepted so bad that many do not care about the big pucture. They know that we are an emotional people because this brother has dark skin it is not going to make anything better. It is the trenches (the neighboorhoods) that we need to take care of. I am not saying that we should not vote what i am saying is that once we take care of that business that we need to take care of where we live. This is the real battle. They are always trying to find ways to keep us off balance and we fall for it every time. Lord help us!
great post kemetkind thanks for bringing it up.
