Africa : Examining Modern Slavery in Africa

According to a recent report on BBC, slavery is a major problem in all 53 countries in Africa. I think it is far past time that we explore what is going on with our brothers & sisters in Africa.

Pan, what they (the BBC) are talking about is not the 'slavery' that occurred in the New World. In many African traditions it is not unusual for poorer families to send their own children to more wealthy families in order that their child may get a better education etc in exchange for helping out domestically in the home. But as a whole this tradition is very ancient on the continent. Obviously there are those who adopt these children for purposes other than charitable reasons. There will obviously be unscrupulous people who take advantage of charitable impulses. Back in days of European chattel slavery of Africans, many unscrupulous Blacks abused and exploited this institution to procure slaves for the White slave traders. What this is (the BBC article), is an attempt for Western nations to diminish and absolve their own participation in slavery and perpetuate the myth of Africans selling themselves in slavery by saying " see, what we did to these Blacks wasn't so bad; look how backward and stupid they are, after all they foolishly continue to sell each other, even till today." What that BBC article is, is propaganda. Anytime any journalistic work is written about Blacks or Africa, for the most part, its propaganda. Thanx.

Child Trafficing, Sex Slavery, and other forms of forced labor/exploitation, exist in EVERY country. This includes the United States, this is certainly not unique to Africa. So I definately agree that this is a propoganda piece; however, this is still something that has to be explored, and stopped. I am particularly concerned about the foreign influences of this human trafficing in Africa. Who is involved? How do we expose them? How do we stop them?

TRUE PAN MISSIONARIES AND CHARITIES ARE A WEAPON.IT IS IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT ALOT OF THIS SLAVE TRADING IS NOT BLACK ON BLACK. THESE JOURNALIARS TWIST IT SOMETIMES,

BY SAYING "AFRICA" ALOT OF THIS SLAVE TRADING OCCURS IN ARAB CONTROLLED NORTH AFRICA, ARABS EXTREMISTS RAID VILLAGES IN THE NAME JIHAD, KIDNAPPING CHILDREN AND WOMEN.

HOW MUCH OF THIS HAS TO DO WITH GOLD DIAMONDS URANIUM MINING??
