Exactly how much water does one need?

    Can anyone advise me on how much water i should be drinking on a daily basis. Should i be drinking half of my body weight, or should i just drink when i'm feeling thirsty? Also I work out a bit so i'm pretty sure i should be taken in extra water for replenishing. I try not to drink to much back 2back bcuz i hear too much of anything is not good for you. I don't know sometimes i feel really dehydrated and i could have just finished a 2 gallon jug of water.

    Could it be something else that i'm lacking?

    If you are drinking that much water and you are still feeling dehydrated, you need to get a physical, inform your doctor, and get COMPLETE blood work...

    excessive thirst and dehydration are symptoms of diabetes..

    I drink at least 1 gallon of water per day preferring to keep my body in a state of hyperhydration...and was taught that when you feel thirsty you're already in the first stage of dehydration

    It's actually half of your body weight in ounces.
    If you weigh 100 pounds ,then have 50 ounces which is 6 and half glasses.

    i agree with Omowalejabali it could be that you are in the stage
    of diabetes but 8 glasses of water is the intake and notice your
    out take which should be half of what you take in if not then you
    should see your Doctor for a complete check up .

    you say you work out most likely your take is 10 on the days you
    work out soda pop can't replace water or really kill a thirst.

    The thing is i drink 8glasses plus in a day. Diabetes has been ruled out (thank God) I dont drink soda but i do drink fruit juices and usually after the workouts i wait like 2hrs before i drink something again. A 2nd opinion from another physician cant hurt though.. Thanks for the advise ya'll

    Hey sis... I drink 1 gallon plus on a daily... I love water. Make sure they check your iron level during your check up.
