~inspired by a jazz piece "Gently Go" ~

as you go;

leave your heart
beside the door
your scent
upon bare breasts
still tender/warm
from
the heat of you

(we own this love)

leave your heart
beside the door
and gentle hand &
fingerprints
on thighs, hips &
parted lips
still quaking
from
the press of you

(but not each other)

leave your heart
beside the door
and liquid trails
of joy streaming
from closed eyelids
still relishing
the sight of you

(we own this love)

leave your heart
beside the door
and aching, lifeless,
yearning arms
that only want
to cradle YOU

(but not each other)

as you go
just leave your heart
beside the door
and a knowing smile
as I recline,
you gave me yours
I gave you mine...

(we own this!)

Alyce...

As you go "Gently into this good night"...I am truly grateful that you leave your beautiful poetry to rest upon the ledge of windows and in between the crevices of doors. I am grateful for the dimensions of paper which lends itself to the ease of lines to slip under closed doors and slide through screens. This is indeed the author's ultimate sacrifice...to allow others to read.

"Rage..rage...against the dying of the light..."

aaahhh

and she lay back
caressing the precious
heart he left behind
his heart, he entrusted
to her care

and he walked out into
the night, cupping his treasure
in the palms of his hands
he placed it snugly inside his
coat against his chest
to keep love safe
in there

Alyce, you paint pictures with your pen. Such an emotional scene...is there a part 2? :)
