Hi Sekhemu,

The Bini, the Fon, including the Ipele are all Erverh. What separates them are individual dialects that are closely related. Because of the difference in dialect most people don't realize these are the same people. During the time of the Slave Trade, the Erverh people occupied the area known as the Slave Coast, now divided into four countries namely Easten Ghana, Togo, Benin (Dahomey) and present day southern half of Nigeria. When you look past the recent boundaries imposed on Africa in 1844, you have one people, the Erverh nation from whom the bulk of the slaves taken to the Americas were from.

Without having read this book, I have no reasonable means to endorse its contents.

Point of clarity, Ipele Fa is method of identifying one's maternal and paternal lineage and in which past lifetime you became involved in the transatlantic slave trade (active or passive) by means of divination.

Hi Sekhemu, the Ipele are a people in Nigeria. "Fa" on the other hand is a word which means divination in both Yoruba and Erverh (Ewe). For example we have 'Fa' or 'Afa' in countries like Ghana and Togo and it is a form of divination. In Dahomey and Nigeria among the Yorua the name is 'Ifa,' which also is a form of divination.

Try and get yourself a copy of the book. It has a wealth of information and I guarantee you, it would be money well spent. You will not be disappointed.
