3 teens murdered in Newark NJ, last month, drive b gang initition, yet Newark has about 6 hardwoking and dedicated community based organizations working desperatly to solve the prblm but inspite of their efforts it is getting worse. A similar incident of a 16 year old girl in Brownsville Brooklyn shot a teen in the back last week, nother gang initition. Listen to Open Line KISS FM NYC on Sunday mornings at 10 AM ad on just about every show for the past 7 months there is another incident mentioned, like the bus shooting in Phillie, and the community based groups desperatly trying to stem this tide. This isa national problem, however inspite of local efforts, local efforts that haev gone on non stop for over 15 years since the crack epidemic, and massive homicides ofthe late 80s ad early 90s things are getting, worse, andwhat is noted is that as communities become regentrfed only then is there more police and less or no violence, now folks keep talking about parent resonsibility but really howmany iresponsibe parents do you know? Now sttistics show that as any economy declines gangs and gang violence increases. The nationa census says 20 percent of all children regardless of color now live in poverty in this nation, so we know what the statisticsare for us. The question now is, now with a Black president, the spending power of a trilion Black dollars, and a communications technology that Dr King and Malcolm could have never dreamed of, what is holding us back from creating a national institution or think tank to deal with this and stem the tide of fratricde???
