It was likened to that moment when
a loved one who has been terminally ill
for two years finally dies. The person you'd come to
know died long ago, but you mourn for that person still.
I liked that metaphor so I will flow with it.
Matrimonial death is a process of sorts
And with a death one often thinks of the life
    that preceded it.
    Here comes my closure
and I suppose my life needs it.
A jump start, a kick in the butt, a jolt if you will....
As the plug is almost pulled, I,
realize that I am not the same person I was
before we met. Half a lifetime has gone by...
And although I thought it would be an entire
lifetime together, I no longer ask why.
I feel I learned from my mistakes and won't harm
a new love with them. I often sigh, but no longer cry
over them. Now, as we head toward that light, individually,
I know in my heart, that God has one hand, love
has the other, and it's okay to be a bit melancholy
    As one door closes
    a window opens, revealing
    a spiritual portal that the
    door was incapable of feeling
    God has blessed me with
    an incredible new view
one that says, I love you...

    Sister Poet whatzinaname,

This is a wonderful contemplation piece. You drew me into your feelings and your space. Its simplicity helped carry the rhythm forward nicely.

    >>I know in my heart, that God has one hand, love
    has the other,<<

Gorgeous words that have staying power. I will forever remember them. I felt this. Thank you for sharing.

I loved this stanza. It took my breathe when I read, I have experienced this same feeling. It does make you meloncholy and yet its a blessing when you get to that point. A wise person once told me that divorce is a grieving process that has stages that occurs in each ones own time. I am sending you wishes and blessings that life looks up
