    Emotional Frailty (jusaflo)

    Timing appears
To have never been my friend
Maybe we could have been at one time
But you know what they say
    “All good things
    Must come to an end”
    But I tried to pretend
    That I’m not bothered
    Holding on to little cliches’
    Like
    “Patience is a virtue”;
    “Good things come to those who wait”;
    But
    At some point and time,
    In my mind,
    It stated to sound fake
    I am the ultimate voyeur
    Standing on the outside
    Watching others hold hands
Croon at the wonders of love
    Or giving a hand
    Aiding Cupid
    In ways of togetherness
Believing that seeing displays of love
    Could substitute
For the actual act of being in love
    And
    Sometimes
    It does the job
    But other times,
    Like now,
    I sit and reflect
    On what chains bind me
From getting the happiness that I seek
Am I a slave to my own self-torture
    Pursuing and entertaining options
    That in reality,
    Are unavailable to me,
    But
    I’m so caught up
    In the freedom of possibility
    That I cannot see—
Maybe this is just a sign
    Of something that haunts me
    The voyeuristic tendencies
    The consumption of others’ joys
    As my own
    I deal with
    As I sit idly by
    On my throne
    Seeking for a cure
    To
    This
    Thing:
    To
    This
    Emotional
    Frailty.
