Has anyone on here used to be a avid soda drinker, pork eater, sweets eater, etc. but not anymore? If you no longer eat/drink certain things anymore, what changes have you noticed once you stopped. So far I have gone a week and a day without a drop of soda and I feel great. Mood is a lot better and I have more energy than I once did. What are your experiences?

I drink soda off and on which can prove fatal as a diabetic if you don't drink enough water.

The difference I notice when I abstain from drinking soda is a lowering of blood sugar levels provided I don't eat much fruit.

It also depends on what kind of soda. Ginger ale, for example, is less acidic than cola. Drinking cola can cause inflammation, but this is true of any drink which is carbonated and contains caffeine and high fructose corn syrup.

So, you might feel better by skipping the soda but if you switch to other drinks high in sugar or HFCS the difference may be the fact of abstaining from carbonated drinks.

I don't eat sweets and I don't drink soda...Never liked it even as a kid...I drink LOTS of water.

I do eat pork...I tried to stop, but I love bacon...sorry I just love the fatty salty taste...but that's the only pork I'll eat.

I think the fact that I don't eat sweets and soda is one of the main reasons I don't gain lots of weight....and drinking lots of water helps too.

i stopped soda when i was diagnosed with diabetes. cold turkey.
i only drink low carb teas and water.

i loss 20 lbs and my longing for soda went away.

the most important is that my cravings went away.
i found that my mind can control my desires.

that's very good. I am still working on the sweets. I used to be able to go without sweets, but starting today, I will see how long I can go without sweets, except for fruit and see if that makes a difference.

Trying to eliminate foods is not easy but necessary in todays worlds. The foods our great grands ate were not the same meat poultry and veg and grains we get today!
The crap we get today is so ful of god knows what one can spend an entire web page on it.
Here in NYC, ever Arab corner store is so chock full of choices , that soda is like a last resort. Coconut water in about five flavors, Green teas iced, White tea Iced, green drinks and about a gazilion fruit smoothies bottled and ice cold, and the old 70 year NYC Borinque stand by the Goya drinks; guava, mango, papaya, guanabana(soursop) and bannana.

Carbonated water is not too good for you unless it is real no BS spring water
