But, the electoral college is alleged to balance out the national vote by assigning so many votes based on the number of congressional positions a state has.
I've read where because states differ in size/population, about 5 out of the 50 could control a presidential election outcome over smaller states because their populations are large. So that wouldn't be fair, thus, the electoral college system was created.
If that's true, then the electoral college process isn't the problem, it's corporate interest and money in politics that's typically problematic. However, in the case of this election (2016) the Dems ignored the working class people and the growing economic gap, in favor of a platform that supports corporations and the wealthy. This gave rise to the appeal of DJT among uneducated white, Black and Brown people and his immigration, stance on abortion and ISIS and campaign rhetoric..."Make America Great Again" gave rise to the educated white, Black, and religious groups. The nasty side of DJT gave rise to those who are sexual degenerates, who think it's okay to treat women like he does.
When you've got middle and lower income America struggling financially and they are tired of the struggle, and they watch you when you chant, "we" are 'Stronger Together' and you and others like you are getting fatter off of their slave labor, something is bound to give and it's usually caused by those that are doing all the giving when 1% are doing all the taking.
Electoral college? We have far bigger problems to deal with than that.
