What does easter mean to those outside of the Christian faith?

If you are not Christian elaborate on your point of view.

Easter is symbolic of the beginning of the vernal equinox. The heralding of new life. It is no accident that we have the symbol of the bunny associated with easter. The bunny representing fecundity and regeneration, and in ancient Khemet the Neter Asar was given the title Un Nefer, with the image of a hare next to it.

    Peace Godssoulja,

I believe that the pagan Sun worshippers thought that the SUN (son) died during the time of the Vernal Equinox for a period of 3 days and then ROSE again on teh 3rd day. Meaning the days got longer, just as during the winter solstice they thought that the SUN (son) died when the days get shorter. SO they would start to build bon fires trying to feed the SUN so it would stay out longer.

During this time of Easter the Earth to the pagans become new, so a sign of this is the deaf, dumb & blind going out to buy NEW Easter clothes to wear to reflect the newness of the Earth.

Astarte' is the pagan goddess of fertility which is another reason why they use the Rabbit and chicken eggs, both signs of fertility & rebirth. Even the reason eggs are colored and hidden for kids go and find is another sign of actual events that took place on the Greek Isle of Lesbos (where the word lesbian comes from) & the game "Hide & seek".

    - what the pagans would do to celbrate their goddess of fertility was get butt naked in the forest and paint their bodies. The men would pretend to cover their eyes & count while the woman ran & hid in the woods. Then, the men would go & try to find them & no matter how many men to a woman they would begin to have sex or orgies right there on the spot. This is also why the Romans were so popular for their orgy parties, it was in celebration to their fertility goddess who is still celbrated to this day. We know how we celbrate it in OUR churches, but do you know how many Orgies are beign conducted right at this moment in paganistic circles around the world & will continue all day as they know the true meaning.
Jesus did not die and rise 3 days later, they just chose to hide the SUN behind the SON so they could continue in their foolishness!!!!!!

I humbly leave u in peace brotha................

Peace to all my Christian Bros. and Sis. I grew up in the United Methodist church, saying Easter speeches, hunting for and painting eggs, and wearing fresh suits and the whole 9! I eventually came into the knowledge of Self in college and currently have no "religion". The word Religion, comes from the latin religare. It simply means to tie, bind, or yolk back to the source. Okay....So now that I had practiced religion of Christianity, what next after I had grown up in it long enough to be binded with the Source (One/God/All etc.)? The idea is to GROW, kind of like this time of year (Spring). The snake (eye might raise a few eyebrows with this one) has to shed its skin periodically to continue to grow and live. If it stays in that dead, outgrown skin too long it will not move and eventually suffocate. I began to learn the truth concerning my ancestors which exposed the lies of the ones who murder(ed) and enslave(d) them. Then I learned how my ancestors were the FOUNDATION of all the world's religions/spiritual systems, ancient and modern. THEN I learned that as long as there's this concept of Go(o)d and (D)Evil, the people would always be stuck in DUALITY instead of embracing and being the ONE truth (source). It's impossible for me to put the old "skin" back on and now I'm enjoying life from ALL perspectives and angles.

You see, I don't want to complicate this...Religion is the car, its not the destination. Whatever car you drive, make sure the engine is running smooth, the fuel is clean, oil is checked, filter is clean, and the wheels aren't treading thin. You won't reach your destination if you neglect to check these things for yourself. If you have a problem, take your car to a specialist who can assist you in getting back on the road.

This spring is special because it represents the resurrection of the SUN, life, fertility and vitality. The true followers of CHRIST (the "anointed one") know that Christ is a perfect model for their OWN lives and not someone outside of themselves to be worshipped. You should worship the Christ within yourself because you are God's children.

Christ (Yeshua- there was no 'J' to make 'Jesus' in the Greek language during the time of Yeshua) was particularly unpopular to the Status quo and so-called leaders of his time. He BLASPHEMOUSLY declared himself the Son of God and quoted the Hebraic scriptures to back him up. On top of this he healed the people with his words and presence. Some people wanted to stone him and others chose to follow him and learn all they could about the AWESOME power God bestowed upon him. He taught sermons to uplift and heal his community and abroad, but was sold out by his own brethren and Crucified by those who were stuck in old scriptures(skin) and those who feared his awesome power. Sound familiar Destee family?

Peace and blessings to the Destee family, and please know that our passionate debates aren't aiming to hurt or disrespect others beliefs. It's to Heal and Teach our brethren and sistren who have been caught in this cycle of vicious lies and deceit for some millenia. We would like you to expand your consciousness of the "Christ" and also the great legacy of our ancestors that was stolen and hidden from us until now (the time of Reveal-ations).

The true meaning of Easter. Without getting technical my brothers and sisters no matter how you look at it or whether you believe the Bible or not the story of Easter is about resurrecting the dead things in our lives. Whether your finances are dead, your marriage is dead, your faith is dead, your relationship with your family is dead or something else that may be benificial to your life is dead it is good to resurrect these things. So for many of us no matter what we believe should all agree that we need to resurrect black unity, black pride and the black family. By doing this we will resurrect the black community and start a new day that will set the trend around the world.

    Peace

In addition to what the God INFO stated, The traditions of Easter also have their origins in Greco-Roman Paganism.

These concepts were taken from Kemetic and other African systems, and perverted by their Euro counterparts, and then given back to so-called Christianity, by Nicene institutions in the 4 century AD.

Although the rituals surrounding what we call Easter are routed in pagan practice, the concepts of fertility, growth and renewal are not.

In ancient Kemet we celebrate the Sun (Heru). He too was born on December 25, has 12 disciples. walked on water, died, was resurrected and now sits on the right (east or morning) side of his father Ra.

If I'm wrong someone tell. From a biblical standpoint there shouldn't been the rituals that christians partake in. Hares, eggs, etc . . . It supposed to be about the ressurection of the messiah, but since most believe the messiahs birth was Dec 25, is Apr even the right time for Easter as it were? As far as celebrations and feasts, shouldn't our Christian people still practice the exact same feast and "holy" days their messiah practiced? Passover, and the few other days the messiah practiced? I personally didn't see anywhere where new feasts and celebrations were added to the messiahs followers.

As far the pagan origins, I could see how they were attached to the Christian, or maybe I should say the Hebrew faith, and therefore Rome (and it's dominant religion) lived on by transferring it's customs into what would be accepted by the populace as the standard practices. I'm mostly speaking in regards to Americans, if I'm not mistaken are pretty much the children of papal Rome by extension thru England. Again anyone that can put me on track if I'm wrong please do.

As far as Egypt / Kemet goes, I can't comment on that. Because of course I've been led to believe anything from Egypt, ancient civilization is 1st polytheistic, 2nd WAY less advanced, 3rd wrong or let's say unenlightened in regards to modern science.

That's my impression of Easter, Xmas, Fathers / Mothers day, Halloween, sweetest day, April fools day, hi five day ad ininitum
