DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY
I was making scrambled eggs this morning
Phone ringing constantly
Call I.D blinking help me!
The aroma smelled of a broken hearted family
My shoulders weak from sweat and tears
Trying to hold the world up by my fingertips
A product of a drunken dream
A flushed spirit
Fair weather friends unhappily married with diamonds to confide in
An aunt who’s like a sister to me,
But in between her husband and her boyfriend,
I’d have to tie a rope around her soul to pull her in
A naked little girl begging for her innocence
Psuedo -relationships aging in a distillery of bullshi*
Mama wasting her life on kids that never gave a shi*
If vodka was a country she’d be the president
A father trying to forgive himself for me maturing quick
A grandmother dying from her husband’s addiction
Back broken into pieces of sand
Rehabbed methadone replaced her praying hands
A sister who bakes cookies for her kids in between suicide attempts
Dependant upon her man because her self-esteem diminished her strength
A baby sister who’s beauty buys her designer outfits
Bedding pedophiles, suffering from I never had a daddy complex
A brother who followed his father’s footsteps
Got a masters in drug delivery and a minor in knowledge
A rap star entrapped in slavery
A willy lynch trophy holding up the walls of the pennitiary
And then there’s me
Scrambling eggs every morning
Watching my daughter as she sleeps
Holding an empty picture frame marked daddy
Constant weight gain
And lord please send me a good man today
Bills coming faster than my payday
Trying to figure out how GOD’S going to fix this catastrophe
Praying that everyone can fix their own problems
When it’s just too much for me!
I was making scrambled eggs this morning
