what does smh mean? I'm usually good at figuring out the alphabet soup but I've seen this one on Destee many times and haven't the foggiest idea what it could mean. Some More Hype?Seen My Honey? Show Me How?

    Hi Nita!

Now that we are in the know, thanx to our knowledgeable brother, we have something that no one can ever take from us--a word.

 Internet abbreviations can be difficult. I didn't know what SMH meant either the 1st few times I saw it. However, I figured it out after realizing the context in which it was being used.

Dont worry River....my first online community was blackvoices and they never had smilies....all we could do is use abbreviations.. .... SMH, ROTFLMBAO, CTFU......

I couldnt figure that stuff out for months...I love sites with smilies that say it all!!

BlackVoices was one of my 1st online experiences too....I had to leave though...way too many trolls on that site. It is ashame, because they have some interesting topics. However there is so much lack of respect that the most intelligient, thought provoking topic becomes a name calling/cussing contest after a few pages.

You are so right Pan. I remember my experience there. It was either Blackvoices or Blackplanet one but people would reveal their most sensitive secrets trying to find healing and affirmation for their pains and failures and there was this guy who everytime someone disagreed with him about anything would throw these secrets in their faces. It was very ugly. I've met junkyard dogs nicer than that. Somebody somewhere must be praying for Destee to keep those kinds of people away from us.

I like the smilies too which raises dumb question #358

When I put a checkmark beside the smilie I like it appears at the beginning of my post. How do I put the smilies where I want them to be in a message?

This is because of the moderating team River, of which I am a part (taking a bow). Destee had the foresight to put the team in place...our goal is to keep this site as a welcoming environment.

To answer your question about the smiles...when you reply to a message, there is a box of clickable smiles on the right. Simply click on the on you want, and it will appear in your message. :star:
