    J. Cole's Dreamville Foundation sponsoring children's writing contest

    By Mike McCray
    Staff writer

The ball is really starting to roll at J. Cole's Dreamville Foundation.
After his first Dreamville Weekend in March, the rapper and Fayetteville native is presenting the "Nobody's Perfect" writing contest for local kids.

The contest encourages kids to honor their mothers (or primary caretakers) using creative writing to express gratitude. The contest is open to youths who are active members of Fayetteville Urban Ministry's Find-A-Friend program.

The theme of the essay plays off Cole's song, "Nobody's Perfect," which features Missy Elliott. Entrants must write an essay or poem completing the statement, 'Nobody's Perfect but my mother is perfect for me.'

...The Dreamville Foundation's mission is to reveal to urban young people their limitless potential through life-altering experiences. Since its inception, the organization has been dedicated to uplifting youth in Fayetteville, and this competition is aimed at helping local kids honor those who have contributed positively to their lives.
