Like you, I was a huge fan of Dr. Carson's....until I found out about his political views. The more I learned the more perplexed I became. Clyde started a thread about his politics. You should check it out. Here is the link. I'd like to know if you still feel the same way after reading some of the thread.

I think that some Black people have misunderstood what Carson actually is doing. Also, the media has had a campaign trying to assassinate Dr. Carson’s' character.

Here is the point, Carson, from all account, is trying to build bridges between Blacks and Caucasian conservatives. The reason is that Blacks in America are a tiny group compared to Caucasians. So by "showing" Caucasian that some Blacks agrees with them on different matters, he hopes to make Caucasian conservatives realize that we Blacks and Caucasians aren’t incompatible.

The Muslim comment i agree with him. The Muslim faith is useless, only brought misery and stagnation of nations. Look at Black countries with huge Muslim populations. For example, Nigeria has a Muslim population residing in the northern part of the country, and a Christian population residing in the southern part of the country. The Muslim population have produced a violent and destructive group called Boko Haram. Boko Haram are running around killing and hurting everybody. While the Christian south of the country are building themselves up, and trying to make a better life for themselves and their children. In Nigeria, 72 percent of people in the Muslim part of the country lives in impoverishment, while the number for the Christian part of the country is 27 percent. Hence the Christians are doing much better.

Dr. Carson is an AMAZING physician. But just because he is a physician doesn't mean that he can fix my plumbing, or style my locs, or operate a bulldozer, or be run the USA. I have also learned that the more books smart folks get, the less common sense they have as one displaces the other.

What it means is he learns new concepts quickly. However, it does not mean that he already knows everything. But If he wanted to be a plumber, or anything else for that matter, he would learn all the information needed much faster than most people.

In conclusion, I do not believe that he is an “idiot”, or any other demeaning terms. In fact, he is one of the great Black minds. And in the future he will be one of the icons for hundreds of millions of Black school children around the world.
