    Please sir
    Don’t shoot
I’m just going to the grocery store
    For my mama
    To get some
    Bread
    Butter
    Eggs
Not trying to get into your business
Just trying to get home alive
    In this war torn environment
    Yet this environment
    Keeps me dreaming
Of when I can grow up
And get out of the hood
And make a name for myself
    Move my mom
    Out from here
    Out of this two flat
    Into a house
    That got a fence
    And windchimes
    Yeah
    She likes windchimes
But first I got to make it past
    You and your boys
    Got to listen
    For the pop
    And make sure
I can fall low to the ground
    So the angel of death
    Doesn’t find me
    The swings at the park
    Are deserted
Been that way for a long time
I remember when I use to play over there
    Me and my friends
    TJ and Darnell
Use to play there every day during the summer
But that’s when the first bullets rang out
    Splitting through the air like
    Missiles finding their destination
    Creating desolation
TJ was the first to fall
Darnell succumbed to the war 6 months later
11 and 12 years of age
    I’m the only left
Gotta make it to the schoolyard
    Safety zone
    Just 3 more houses
To go and I’ll be home
    Or will I
    Wheels screeching
    Watching brother man
    Lean out the window
    Spraying the air
With his weapons of mass destruction
    Angel of Death
    Looking for the target
    Misses
    Yet it can’t change direction
And I think it sees my as I crouch behind the door
    Yes it has found me
As it knocks on the door
Asking me if I can come out to play

And surely you came in with a bang...it was beautiful, but so sad that we have to sometimes penn "cold hard reality" ...welcome to the house of "no duck" and keep that pen close by, for you use it quite well.
