in you're pursuit of equality
please don't bottle me
in the group you're stacked up against
cause your fight is my fight sis
held down
ever since we fell down
seen as lazy coons
bufoons and clowns
i know we are funny
but d@mn
can't you see
they are trying to discredit me as your man
locking me in hostile lands
making it hard for me to stand
up for mines
so many of you are enriching your mind
while so many of us
are turning to crime
i'm not blind
to your bitterness
me calling you a b*tch or a ho
is a no go
i know
but the tv told me it was ok to say so
you are not my foe
and us fighting will eventually
pay a heavy toll

i'm on your side
we fight this fight together
in the same car we both ride
just like on the back of the bus
we can't let da white man break our trust
cause he's against both of us
not just me
not just you
do you really think
that i have it easier then you
maybe you do...
but i don't
and sit back and lose you
i won't
i'm saying all of this to say
if you make it before i do
i'm your brother
please don't screw...

me over
and give me the cold shoulder
while warming up the bed
of mastas kin
cause he's not the key holder
he's a power freak
and a slave molder
please don't turn your back on me
for a self proclaimed jehovah
who's so willing to put my name
on the next prison folder

Division between the black man and woman
was the strongest of the weapons ever used
against us...I loved hearing the perspective of
a man...you here a lot of the sisters speaking
of this but I have maad respect for you bringing
this...It's glad to know, not all of you have are
blind to the power we hold as one...

This piece made me think of one of the most painful
things I've ever heard… part from a black mans lips...and it was:
the black woman is the lowest of all women and she is
the last woman I would ever choose on this earth...

"a black man actually said this"
...it quieted the entire room...

the damage done to the relationship
between black men and women
can never be atoned for
