NYC has none of these franchises ! the Dominican community, gets together , and creates their own mom and pop dollar stores, and the Bangladeshis and Sudanese do the same!
Unlike those franchises in th south , where you cant get toilet paper, batteries, light bulbs , that last more then a week, and cant even buy a doggone tea kettle, or a knife that can fillet a chicken, these stores are well stocked and up to date!
I have heard too many stories about both Dollar Tree and Family Dollar, running out of supply and being back ordered on basics as folks go into stores and see empty shelves and boxes piled to the cieling with no one to correct or stack the inventory!
In over 30 years I have never seen that occur in Brooklyn!
Maybe we as a community of people who now have over 37 millionaires under 40, 2019, and spent 1.2 trillion , just year before last
should fund our own dollar shops, so we can service our communities as well as create some new self employment!
