Does anyone here use limewire or any other file sharing software? If so, I have questions.
i been using limewire for a few years.
i use soulseek....
Have you heard of anyone getting fined for copyright infringement?
there were some cases a year ago. i guess it can happen.
you gotta know how to do it.
So how do you do it (without getting fined)?
Hi Brother Diakonos ... good to see you back in the house. I don't use any of those file sharing places, but my daughter is in school in St. Louis and she shared the following with me, just recently.
She said she downloaded a movie, and received a communication from her ISP provider (cable), that she had violated copyright laws by downloading this movie, and was being warned that there will be greater consequences if she does it again.
Of course it was her plan to never do it again, but she received a second communication from her ISP, this time via the building manager of her apartment complex, telling her that they were going to have to disconnect her cable because she's downloaded a movie illegally.
Well of course she was stumped at first, because she's not downloaded anything else since then, but she was telling me that she still has the program on her laptop ... not sure which fileshare program she was using ... and she said that when she boots up her machine, this program automatically launches ... and even though she isn't downloading ... perhaps others are downloading from her machine ... and that is what they are calling her 2nd offense.
Well ... she fussed with the management a little, asked for a reduction of her rent, if she's going to have to have her cable disconnected ... at which time, they said that they would get out of the way ... and let her deal directly with the ISP herself.
She explained to them the above, and said that she'd remove the program from her machine, so this will never happen again ... and all was well.
Copyright Infringement does seem to be very big now ... i even saw where they are putting digital stamps on every frame of movies, so the creators can know if there are illegal copies ... where the original was sold. The program i was watching seemed to imply that the original owner may have to answer for the illegal copies found.
I think it's best to stay above board as much as possible.
We all know, that what others get a slap on the wrist for ... we get the electric chair.
Much Love and Peace.
Every program I have I have gotten off of limewire
